Best No-Chip Nail Polish!

Hello everyone!

I am coming to you today with some great news, are you ready to hear it? You might want to sit down because I am about to tell you that I have found a nail polish formula that does not chip for close to a weeks worth of wear. Yes, a WEEK.

This magic nail polish is from Revlon. It is called the Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy range.

I found this at my local drugstore and decided to give it a try, it was around nine dollars, and I’ve fallen in love with it. The polish is easy to apply, it has a nice brush, it goes on smooth and fairly opaque. Once it has dried I use a good top coat and I can usually get up to a week’s worth of wear with little to no chips at all. And I can do this while working with my hands all day. If it can survive a cash register and phone system then it’s a winner in my books.

My only issue with the range is the colour selection. I tend to like more neutral and pastel colours, and this range only has a few of those. Most of the shades are fairly rich or they are very vibrant colours. If you are into that kind of thing, then it’s just extra good news for you.

The colours I have in my collection are the ones that I adore the most, and use frequently.

The shades in order from left to right

-100 Cardshark (bright pink/peach)

-020 All or Nothing (baby pink)

-510 Sure Thing (white)

-540 Checkmate (nude)

I hope you guys are able to try this range and find some shades that you fall in love with, because it really is worth the buy. If you try and colours please let me know in the comments! Or tell me which one of the ones that I have is your favourite!

Until next time,

FYI: I bought these products myself and all opinions are my own. xo

Nivea Anti-Perspirant Review: FAIL.

I am here to talk to you today about a little fail that happened to me a few weeks ago. I was in the market for another deodorant after I finished my Nivea Double Effects in the violet senses. (empties review for that product here!) The store didn’t have the same one so I grabbed another from the same brand.  The one that I grabbed was the Nivea Invisible for Black and White Anti-Perspirant.

(This photo is one from a store because I have since thrown mine away!)

nivea-invisible-for-black-and-white-stick-43-g-600x600My initial thoughts were this is awesome because I pretty well only wear black and white tops. It seemed like a perfect fit for me.

After I took the product home I used it a few times and noticed it didn’t go on as nicely as the other Nivea deodorant did. That was slightly off putting but it was nothing compared to what was going to happen next.

A few days later I looked down at my desk to see it had wet puddles covering the top. I found that very odd seeing as I had no liquids on the table. I looked around and tried to find the source.

I smelt the liquid and it smelt like deodorant. I picked up everything on the table including my brand new shirt (which was a gift I hadn’t worn yet) to find it soaked in a horrible brown liquid. The deodorant had completely leaked out and stained everything on the table.

So my question is, why was this leaking? It was a solid stick deodorant with no liquid in the product besides the chemicals/fragrance built into the stick. My room was at a normal temperature and it was stored in a dry safe place.

I’m still not sure as to why it leaked, but it did. Since then I have cast aside the Nivea brand for deodorants. I am not willing to risk another disaster.

I hope this has shined some light on this product for you guys. If you have tried it please feel free to leave your experiences in the comments below! Did you have a better one than I did? Did you love it, hate it?

All my love,

Meghan. x

Thrift Store Home Decor Haul!

Hello again my lovelies!

So today i’m starting a new series called #meghanwentshopping because it’s my favourite thing to do… even though i’m broke as frick right now. But you know, priorities right?

The first haul that I have for you is from one of my favourite stores… my local thrift store. Thrifting for me is like an addiction that I cannot get enough of. You can find so many hidden gems in there for almost next to nothing. Also because they have stuff provided from people’s donations you get so many unique items and pieces that stores simply do not carry anymore.

The items that I bought are for my future apartment with my boyfriend next fall. The theme that i’m going for is super modern with a colour scheme of black, gold, and marble.

*Side Note: If you are interested to see how I shop for, decorate, and physically move into the apartment then make sure to subscribe because I will be posting about it! Also if you want an apartment tour when it’s finished then please let me know in the comments!*

Now if you’re super nosy like me and want to know some of what I bought for the house then keep on reading!

#1 The Wire Basket

This basket has been on my mind for months and months. I see so many people who have them and they can be up to $50 online?! The one that I ended up purchasing was only $3. I plan on using this for extra blankets and pillows to sit beside the couch in the living room. I love the geometric look of it and that fact that it fits a ton of stuff!

#2 The Marble Paper Towel Holder

This doesn’t need too much explanation… but its super cute right? This is for the kitchen to hold paper towels. It is real marble and I found the same ones online for over $30. The one that I bought was only $8. Total bargain.

#3 The Marble Tray

This is another real marble piece that I found. It’s original purpose was to use in the kitchen to place hot things on top of… but I have other ideas for it. I plan on placing it on an end table in the living room with a vase of flowers on top to tie in the marble to the living room area. This beautiful tray cost me $7.

#4 The Juice Jug

I spotted this gem in the glassware section and instantly put it into my cart. It is going to be used for juice, that might make me high maintenance but I do not care cause it’s SO CUTE. It is made of 100% recycled glass and only cost me $3.

#5 The Clock

This little clock captured my heart pretty quickly… especially because it is white and gold. I plan on placing this on one of the decorative book cases. I think it’s super cute and ties in the modern theme while being vintage all at the same time. This only cost me $6 and it works as a great statement piece.

So that is all I have for you right now my friends. But I seriously recommend going to your local thrift stores and taking a peek because you never know what you will find! I will be sure to update you on whatever else I find along the way.

Big loves,

Dollar Store DIY: Polaroid Photo String

Hello Lovelies!

So I bought myself a polaroid camera a few years ago and as much as I loved having the pictures… I could never figure out where I wanted to put them. When I moved to my first year of University last fall I decided to make a plan to hang them around my room.

With nothing but dollar store supplies and a little bit of creativity I created this photo string decoration that resembles many of the expensive kits from places like Urban Outfitters, Michaels, etc. I figured why pay close to 15 dollars (and sometimes more… wtf?!) for something I can whip up in less than ten minutes for about three bucks? And with that little amount of time and money required you now have no excuses not to try it!

Oh and did I mention… this is dorm room and renter friendly? If you need to keep your walls clean then just use adhesive hooks that are easy to remove when you’re finished with them!

What you will need:

  1. A roll of twine or string of your choice (usually one dollar or more depending on your store)
  2. Wooden Clothes Pins (One dollar for a whole pack)
  3. Command Hooks or a hanging device of your choice (Range from 4-8 dollars in most stores)
  4. Photos! You can use polaroids like mine or simply print out some of your pictures at a photo stand! The copies usually cost no more than 25 cents per photo!

How To Make It:

  1. First off you have to measure how long you want your photo string to be. Go ahead and pick a length, leaving a little extra on each end to tie your knots!
  2. Once you have your length then you will need to take your hook of choice and loop the end of your string around it. I chose to simply tie a loose knot and stick the hook in just before I tightened and finished my knots.
  3. The string at this point should now have two secure hooks, one on each side. From there you can place the string on the wall, giving it as much of a “droop” as you desire. Tip: If you want it to hang lower then bring the hooks closer together and stick them to your wall.
  4. Once fastened to the wall take your clothes pins and place them over the string. If you pinch the string between the teeth of the pin it should stay upright and be able to hold your pictures!
  5. Place your photos in between the mouth of the pin and place them in whatever order you wish.
  6. Now sit back and look at how crafty you are… and enjoy the lovely faces and memories you have displayed.

I love this photo string, it’s a very simple way to display all of my favourite moments… and it acts nicely as a make-shift head board for the base of my dorm room bed.

I hope this DIY gave you some inspiration for your space. If you recreate it please tag me in your photos! My Twitter and Instagram are @meghanmalone87 I would love to see what you guys come up with!

Until next time,
