June Favourites 2016

Hi my loves!

I apologize for going MIA for the last two weeks but I currently am working three jobs so i’m a bit of a busy bee. Regardless of that fact I have been loving some new beauty products that I wanted to share with you.

Without further ado, it’s time for some favourites.

#1. Benefit “Roller Lash” Mascara

This came in a trial size in one of our Sephora kits and I pretty much fell in love… enough to take the plunge and buy the full size. I love this because it separates my lashes and makes them look super long without being clumpy. It has a similar finish to the Maybelline Lash Sensational (my drugstore fave) but I find the Benefit one makes my lashes a little more noticeable and dramatic while still being really long and fluttery. And let me tell you, i’m not mad about it.

#2. Real Techniques Detailer Brush

I think I got this brush in one of my Real Techniques set quite a few years ago and I recently decided to give it a try. I have been having some real skin issues right now and I’m trying to find the best way to cover up tricky spots. This has been working pretty well for me. I dip it in the lid of my foundation and I just work around the spot and blend. It seems to work very well for small areas and making very precise strokes. If you can get your hands on this brush on its own or in a set I would highly recommend it.

#3. Living Proof Satin Hair Serum

Holy moly, am I excited about this one you guys. I have the frizziest, curliest, driest, most bleached and damaged ends on this planet. I have ombre hair and have done for a few years now so I have basically given up on having nice and soft ends. I got this in a try me package from the brand and I just fell in love (So did Emma). My ends feel 10 times softer, they look WAY healthier and the split ends are virtually gone. My hair used to split into chunks and now it just stays together nicely without being frizzy. Another bonus for this product is that it doesn’t leave an oily residue when I apply it to my wet hair and let it dry. I cannot tell you how much I love this product. It has been a life saver and if you have hair like mine then you NEED THIS in your life. Although,I am dreading the day that my sample runs out because then I have to go out and buy the big one.

#4. Mac “Faux” Satin Finish Lipstick

I think I’ve spoken about this lipstick a couple times now but it’s just such a good one. It is matte without being super drying, it’s a beautiful nude colour and it works so well for an everyday lipstick. I pretty much use it daily, and it is always in my handbag. I would highly recommend this shade if you’re looking for a good everyday colour!

#5. L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer

I recently ran out of my Anastasia Brow Wiz and Emma told me I should try the dupe we found (post here) again, so I did. To be honest I really enjoy this drugstore option. The colour (dark brunette) is a really good match for me and it glides onto the skin nicely. It’s waxy enough but it still lasts all day on my face. This gets a solid thumbs up from me.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I’ve been enjoying lately. We are planning to continue with the favourites, however we will be alternating months, so next month you can see what Emma has been loving!

Please let me know what kind of posts you guys would like to see in the future by leaving a comment, or tell me what you’ve been loving this month!

All my love,

Meghan. x

April Sephora Haul!

Hello again!

I hope you’re all well, I have currently been drowning in the almost exam period at my university, so needless to say, i’m a busy bee.

I decided to treat myself for my birthday and do a wee bit of Sephora shopping. So if you would like to take a peek into my haul then get yourself a cup, a snack, a comfy chair and lets get started.

#1: Origins: Radiance Boosting Bests Kit (500 Point Beauty Insider Reward)

What’s Inside:

  1. A mini of the GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream
  2. High Potency Night-A-Mins Mineral-Enriched Renewal Cream (1 oz.)
  3. Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash mini
  4. Modern Friction Nature’s Gentle Dermabrasion mini

I was so excited to see this finally pop up in the rewards boutique. I have been saving up my points for something good and this did not disappoint! I love Origin’s masks so I cannot wait to try out the rest of the products. And ps they are all really generous sizes (especially the Night-A-Mins).

#2: Marc Jacobs Birthday Gift Mini Makeup Set

What’s Inside:

  1. Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick in “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”
  2. Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in “Black”

This was the birthday gift that I chose this year. I mainly picked it because I was running low on an eyeliner and figured this would be a good option. I’m happy with my initial swatches, the eyeliner is ridiculously black, soft and seems to be long wearing. The lipstick is a pretty neutral pink colour, so a staple for anyone really. Would highly recommend!

#3: Living Proof Sample Trio

What’s Inside:

  1. Living Proof: Prime Style Extender
  2. Living Proof: Instant Texture Mist
  3. Living Proof: Satin Hair Serum

This little trio was a gift for VIB and VIB Rouge members and I was super excited about it. I got the two of the three products from the brand that I really wanted to try and they’re huge sample sizes as well. I will try these and keep you updated.

#4: Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette

What’s Inside:

  1. Luminous perfecting powder in Sunlight, Moonlight
  2. Perfecting powder in Filtered Light (middle shade)

This palette has had me drooling over it for months since it came out. I was so obsessed that I finally splurged and bought it. This turns out to be a stunning palette and the packaging looks beautiful on my table. If you want a review on this then please leave a comment letting me know!

So as always with my hauls, please let me know if you want my opinion/ review on any of these products in the comments below and I will write about them in the future! Let me know what products you want to try from my haul as well!

Until next time,

Meghan. x

April Sephora Haul!

February Makeup Haul!

Hi everybody!

I hope you’re doing well and surviving the cold winter months. I am currently home sick wrapped up in bed so I thought I would share with you some of the goodies I have bought recently.

What better remedy for a sore throat than a good old makeup haul… am I right?

I have some bits and bobs from the drugstore and some higher end stuff so I hope you enjoy taking a peek into my new products!

This baby is not a new purchase to me but it is a new tube. This is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Full Fan Effect Mascara in Very Black ($9). This is my favourite mascara that I have tried. It makes my lashes look crazy long without looking too chunky and false. If you like a natural looking lash that still makes a statement then I highly suggest this!

This brow pencil is new to the Drugstore from L’Oreal Paris. It is called the Brow Stylist Definer  ($11) and it is a very good dupe for the cult classic Anastasia Brow Wiz. I have a post about this pencil on the blog already so I won’t bore you with the details. If you want to read more about it then head on over to my brow post, link is below!

This is pretty simple… I needed a hand sanitizer for my purse. I picked up this Endless Weekend Anti-Bacterial Gel ($2) from Bath and Body Works. It smells very fresh and clean, which happen to be my favourite scents apart from florals. It also has a super cute bottle so I mean who can resist?

Oh boy was I excited to get myself another tube of this stuff. I had been looking for my shade (Vanilla) for ages and it was always sold out. This is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($36). It is quite pricy but there is really nothing like it in my opinion. It covers everything and brightens under the eyes beautifully. When I get lazy I even use it as a make shift foundation to even out my skin tone. It’s wonderful and I love it.

So I went to Sephora in a search for a new foundation and I ended up coming home with this. I am not going to talk too much about it because I want to do a separate post on it later but I am really enjoying it so far. This is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup in the shade Ivory Nude ($45). It is a great colour match for me, it does stay all day and it’s a great matte, full coverage foundation. If you want more details and to see what it looks like on the skin then stay tuned for another foundation post!

I picked up this lipstick in MAC and I am happy to say that i’ve found a new everyday Matte lipstick. This one is a Satin Finish (but it looks pretty matte to me) and it is in the colour Faux ($21). I like this lipstick a lot. It is a beautiful everyday and very wearable colour. It goes well with my pale skin and it is a semi matte finish that does not dry the crap out of my lips. The formula is MAC so it goes without saying that it’s long wearing and beautiful in general so this is a big win for me and a permanent addition to the everyday makeup routine!

So that finishes my little makeup haul. I’m really happy with everything I bought and I hope you enjoyed taking a nosy little peak in my shopping bags.

Let me know in the comments what you want to try from my haul or your opinions on anything that you have tried! Also tell me what you’ve been buying lately and if you think there is anything I need to try!

Lots of love,

meghan. x

Luxury Lipstick Dupes: The Berry/Red Edition

Hello angels!

If there is one aspect of makeup that really tickles my fancy- it’s lipstick. More specifically, a dark lip. I know it can be kind of scary to join the world of really bold lipstick but I promise that once you do you will never go back.

I have quite a few lipsticks that I like for many different reasons. Most of my choices tend to be in the matte category because I really don’t like the look of glossy lips… but that’s totally up to preference. In the sections below I am going to provide you with two drugstore dupes for high end lipsticks that I wear all through the year… cause who needs colour rules?

Dupe #1: Charlotte Tillbury in “Glastonberry” for Rimmel “Bordeaux.”

My holy grail dark lip is the Charlotte Tillbury Lipstick in “Glastonberry” that I received this year for Christmas. It is a beautiful deep red/almost purple matte shade. It is super pigmented, easy to apply, long wearing, and it comes in amazing packaging. Now keep in mind that this product is beautiful, but it comes with a hefty price tag.

A good dupe that I have found for this lipstick joined my collection just over a year and a half ago. My drugstore option is the: Rimmel London Lipstick in Bordeaux. This lipstick is very similar to Glastonberry because it is the same shade of deep red/almost purple. It lasts well on the lips, has a slightly matte finish and is just overall a really beautiful colour.

Dupe #2: NARS “Afghan Red” for Rimmel “Kate Moss 107.”

My second high end lipstick is the NARS Lipstick in Afghan Red. This lipstick is more of a true red and is slightly more sheer than Glastonberry. It feels very nice on the lips and is a very pretty and flattering red colour. I really enjoy wearing this one in the spring and summer because it is not quite as dark as the other lipsticks in my collection.

The dupe for this lipstick (or just a great one on it’s own) is the Rimmel Kate Moss in the shade 107. This lipstick is my holy grail do or die red. It is hands down the perfect red colour. It stays well on the lips, isn’t drying, and it is very pigmented. I have purchased many tubes of this stuff so I can keep it all around my house, in all my bags etc.

I hope this helped out some of you who are looking for a great dark lip from the drugstore! If you have any other suggestions please leave them in the comments.. i’m always looking to feed my lipstick addiction.

Much loves,

meghan. x
